On Saturday, 24 May 2025, IAC proudly took part in the Discover Poort neighbourhood market at Buurtcentrum Almere Poort. It was a vibrant day filled with ideas, connections, and inspiring conversations about how we can all help make our neighbourhood an even better place to live.

We were excited to present our initiative, “Learning Dutch through Play”—a project designed to connect Dutch and international children through playful, language-based exchanges. The concept is simple but powerful: international children from the international school can help their Dutch friends practise English and other languages, while Dutch children can introduce their international peers to the Dutch language and culture.

Many residents stopped by to chat, express their enthusiasm, and offer support. Some even suggested potential venues for the sessions. We were also pleased by the interest shown in the broader work of the International Almere Community, and we look forward to welcoming new members to our future activities.

In the coming weeks, Almere Poort will select 7 community projects to receive funding. We’re hopeful that “Learning Dutch through Play” will be one of them—and that it will be embraced by both Dutch and international families alike.

Bringing children together through language and play helps create a stronger, more connected community. We believe this project reflects that spirit, and we can’t wait to make it a reality—with your support.
